![]() ![]() I'm not going to attempt to talk you into using Q mounts, they aren't my personal preference. I don't think I would have stuck it if I had cleaned it every 210. The AAC mount kind of taught me it makes a little sense to try to clean the mounts at some sort of reasonable interval like every couple hundred rounds. We weren't aware of a need to clean the acme thread, and it copper brazed itself together on a 10" SCAR in 556. In the military I got an AAC 18T mount stuck with 210 rounds- that was the third day putting combat loads through the can in about one 15 minute range session per day, and the can had seen about 1200 total rounds at that point. 400-500 rds is a pretty long session with centerfire ammo. I shot a 200 round belt through a Recce 7 on a 240 machine gun and glowed the can in daylight last summer (this was abusive use), and I removed the can without issue, but I did let it cool first. We remove hot cans a lot, but we usually use gloves and even then it's dangerous to have a loose can that's hot. View QuoteI think he's saying, you can't grab the can until it cools off. ThanksĮTA: Between this and the P80 10mm issues I've been having I'm close to selling it all and taking up knitting. I'm willing to take the financial and weight hit for something bomb proof. I just want something that works and will keep working correctly for years. My question is do I want KeyMo or YHM? Or is there another that I am missing. Expect to see CB's and a Plan B on EE in the future. At this point I'm done with Q and looking for the best bomb proof mount. Now this is all after I took the time and patience to properly Rocksett and torque the CB onto the muzzle (25FTLBS) and the Plan B onto the can (35FTLBS). It is currently soaking in boiling water to see if that helps any. The Plan B is still attached to the cherry bomb which is attached to the barrel. When i got home I was finally able to get the can off of the plan B with a heavy duty strap wrench. I sheathed it in its coltac pouch and luckily it fit in the range bag like that. Had someone hold the rifle while i tried to crank on it some more still wouldn't budge. ![]() ![]() I let it cool some just enough to be able to grab it with an oven mitt. So after shooting 400 to 500 rounds at the range today with my Nomad attached. ![]()
